Ian Cameron

BA, BMed, DRANZCOG, FRACGP, FACRRM

Ian Cameron is CEO of the New South Wales Rural Doctors Network (RDN). The RDN has been involved for 15 years in the recruitment and retention of rural doctors. Strategies have included support for rural students to take up health careers, support for undergraduate and early postgraduate students, through to continuing professional development for established rural doctors. To achieve it aims RDN works with practitioners, communities, policy makers and health service organisations.

Ian previously had been a General Medical Practitioner (including obstetrics and anaesthetics) in the remote town in which he grew up. He has a particular interest in helping to improve the health of Aboriginal people. His early research had been in diabetes in Aboriginal people.

Ian is a conjoint lecturer at Newcastle University.
