Back to Executive Committee
Dawn Forman
I have a very personal interest in Interprofessional Education. This was the subject of my PhD which I completed in 2000. I led the development of interprofessional provision at the University of Derby initially commencing this in 1991. One of the attractions in taking up my new post at Sheffield Hallam University was that the University had a clear commitment to Interprofessional education and which had been recognised national in the awarding of a Centre For Excellence in Electronic Interprofessional Education.
Currently I chair the IPE task force for the Network: Towards Unity for Health. This network is closely linked with the World Health Organisation and it is fascinating to see how IPE is being facilitated in "so called" developing countries. I honestly believe we could learn a lot from these countries. My recent appointment as Executive Dean for the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing at Sheffield Hallam University means I lead one of the four faculties within the University. My faculty has a budget of £34 million and covers the areas of biosciences and sport as well as a huge range of health and social care education. Sheffield Hallam has the highest profile for research of any of the post 1992 Universities and four of the research centres of the university are located in the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing.
